What child doesn’t grow up falling in love with the heroes and heroines of Disney? I know as a young girl, I looked up to the Princesses who had adventures, pushed the boundaries and looked fabulous while doing it. Belle, Jasmine and Ariel were my role models growing up. Young kids these days are looking up to Elsa and Anna and their loveable friends. The thing about Princesses is that they make everything just a little more magical and a little more fun and that’s something to cherish.YYC Princess is on a mission to do just that. As a Calgary kid's party entertainment provider, Caitlynne Medrek is an innovator of memorable experiences for children. Song, dance and the creative arts are her speciality. We had a chance to sit down with Caitlynne to chat about why every Calgary children’s party needs the magic of a Princess.
Becoming a Princess
What inspired you to start YYC Princess?
Many little girls dream of being a Princess. I don't know about you, but I sure did! I spent my whole life playing dress up and wishing upon stars. So, when it came time to finally grow up, I was naturally drawn to the idea of being a real-life princess. When thinking about Princesses and the responsibility of influencing young minds, I knew I had to design an experience that delivered more than a good time. I knew I couldn’t just throw on a princess costume and sing a few songs. I needed to create an experience that introduced young people to a role model as well as a Princess.
How do you make an experience with a YYC Princess so magical?
I have been very selective in growing my team of Princesses. I wanted to create an environment that delivered on every level. There is nothing like the look of wonder on children’s faces when they see their favourite Princesses. I wanted kids to be entertained, inspired and leave with a feeling of magical excitement. These goals really drove me to hire professional actors who genuinely love being a real-life Princess, myself included. All of the incredible women working for YYC Princess are professional actors and singers. They play their roles wholeheartedly and play their characters impeccably. A YYC Princess can lead a craft, start a sing-a-long or inspire children through the creative arts. That’s what makes a YYC Princess magical.

We offer a variety of exciting party packages, but our favourite one at the moment is our painting parties. We believe there is nothing more exciting than a blank canvas and a grand imagination. Our princesses supply everything from paints, canvases, brushes and Princesses dresses in lieu of aprons. That way, all the kids can feel like a real Princess themselves. Put on a princess dress, get messy, and let your imagination soar!! The princesses are there to guide, encourage help you mix paint colours, and remind all kids that being a princess comes from the mark you make. Maybe well also sing some ‘Let it go’ while were at it!
Kid's Party Photo Booth
We teamed up with YYC Princess and Event Core to host Hannah's 8th Birthday party! This was such a blast. The kids were surprised by Ariel who made a magical entrance singing from the original score of The Little Mermaid. The kids were then treated to cupcake decorating, crafts and photos with Ariel in the photo booth. Each little princess went home with magical memories and a photo of themselves with their favourite princess. In our opinion, Event Core offers the best kid's birthday party packages in Calgary! Every YYC Princess is a professional actor with Young People’s Theatre right here in Calgary. A YYC Princess is a trained actor, singer and artist. Each Princess loves what she does and truly feels that every child should have little magic in their lives.Caitlynne believes there is nothing is more magical than the look on a child’s face when they walk into a room and see their favourite princesses. It’s truly as wonderful as wishing upon a star.Aside from rocking Calgary kids party entertainment, Caitlynne is currently acting on the set of the hit TV series Fargo. Cool!
